Roses are red, Violet is lucky to be with PRNE!  OK, it doesn’t rhyme but Violet is one luck poodle.  Violet was found in the parking lot of a grocery store and taken to a shelter where she was in danger of being euthanized – possibly due to her age and the probable medical issues she faces. Violet is about 11 years old but is spunky as can be! She is very sweet and craves love and attention from humans and canines alike.  The good news is that her eyes are ok, showing just the lenticular sclerosis that comes with aging and her heart is good.  Violet’s dental condition is horrendous – she recently had a dental during which 6 rotten teeth were extracted and several fissures were repaired. Her knees are also in terrible condition – she will be having a consult with orthopedic surgeon to determine whether surgery will help. She is currently on pain medicine for her knees and for severe arthritis. Violet also suffers from a collapsed trachea so needs a harness and special care when being walked.

Violet is on her way to a new life but it will be expensive to sort out her medical issues and treat them so that she can live comfortably. Can you help? Please consider being an Angel for Violet.

Isn’t it enough that we’ve had to endure safety issues with our pets foods?  Now, it looks like we will have to be ever vigilant of their toys, too, because lead has been found in some of them.  Check this out for more info.    Actually, it’s not a bad idea to be cautious about anything that goes into your dog’s mouth, is it?

So if your dogs are anything like mine, tomorrow will be their day to show off their begging skills.  What could be better than a group of humans gathered around the table, eating a huge meal, right?  The little voice says “how bad could a piece of turkey be?”  Let this article answer that question for you.  The bottom line is “just say no.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is what your donations allow us to do.

Thank you.

This article on how to keep your black pets safe on Halloween focuses mainly on cats but I think its advice is applicable to dogs, too.

No doubt we will all see many cute photos of pups dressed up for Halloween.  How people get their dogs to stay still enough with a costume on to take a picture is beyond me.  Besides picking out the absolutely perfect costume, what else do you need to know about pets and Halloween?  Check here for some great info.

If you are a resident of Massachusetts please consider contacting your representatives to urge them to pass House Bill 344.  The bill would prevent the devocalizing (debarking) of dogs and cats.  If you’re not sure who to contact, please check here: http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.php.

PRNE is thrilled to be able to offer a raffle for a wonderful trip to Maine.  Please stop by our webpage to check out the details.

So your pup is housetrained but you still find puddles.  What’s up with that?  This article can point you in the direction of an explanation and help.
